There’s a scripture that says, “Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].” Ephesians 6:13 Amplified Bible.
As a small business owner, there’s a 101 things to be done daily; staying ahead of the curve and competition, pleasing clients, winning orders, processing workflow and production, dealing with vendors and distributors, managing finances and so on. One has to wear many hats during the course of the day.
I’m wondering how do you apply a literal translation of this scripture to this daily grind? Absolutely, prayer is a huge facet, as with it ushers in peace, wisdom, and insight on how to be successful. The flip side is that in an economy that is shaky, what more can a believer do to proverbially “stand firm” as a small business owner? We can reach across the aisle, and ask the same questions of any believer navigating a storm, or season that is seemingly unfavorable, insurmountable in our own eyes.
In addition to prayer, this is might be an additional help;
- Have the courage to share with your peers
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help
- Maintain integrity regardless of how difficult the journey is
- Search out the victories and tell people about them
- Don’t give in to an easy “out”, it is not worth the temporary victory
- Stand your ground, be firm, don’t alter course unless the Lord confirms it in and through His word

I created this space as a welcoming home for candid life discussions, faith, and purposeful community. My journey has been anything but conventional—from navigating childhood moves to Europe, spending 40 years in the printing industry, and living across two vastly different worlds in Zimbabwe and the United States, God has spent decades quietly forming my heart before officially calling me into pastoral ministry. Recently ordained and commissioned as a pastor, I write from a place of real, lived experience, openly sharing the highs of deep faith alongside the raw seasons of depression, doubt, and navigating life’s unexpected detours. Since establishing this journal back in 2005, my mission remains simple: to listen without judgment, share honest testimonies, and encourage you to slow down, press pause, and discover how to shine brightly for Jesus in our everyday lives.
