Why Was Man Created OnThe Sixth Day?

Posted on May 24, 2025July 8, 2025 by Brother Sjambok

I started reading the bible from Genesis chapter 1, and found this interesting.

According to the Bible, specifically the book of Genesis, man was created on the sixth day of creation.

Here’s how it unfolds:

Genesis 1:26–31 (NIV)
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…”
…So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
…God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Summary of the Creation Days:

  • Day 1 – Light and darkness (day and night)
  • Day 2 – Sky and atmosphere
  • Day 3 – Land, seas, and vegetation
  • Day 4 – Sun, moon, and stars
  • Day 5 – Birds and sea creatures
  • 👉 Day 6 – Land animals and man (human beings)
  • Day 7 – God rested

Why was man created on the sixth day, AFTER creation?

That’s a thoughtful and often-asked question. According to the biblical account in Genesis, man was created on the sixth day, and while Scripture doesn’t explicitly say why it was the sixth day, many biblical scholars and theologians offer insights based on the structure and meaning of the creation narrative.

✨ 1. Creation Was Prepared First for Humanity

God spent the first five days preparing the earth — creating light, land, sea, plants, animals, and everything man would need to live and thrive. By creating man last, God ensured:

  • The environment was perfectly suited for human life.
  • Man entered into a finished, ordered creation — not chaos.

➡️ It reflects God’s care and intentionality. Humanity wasn’t an afterthought, but the climax of creation.

🏆 2. Man Was the Crown of Creation

  • Humans were made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26–27), which sets mankind apart from all other created beings.
  • Being created last symbolizes importance, not insignificance.
  • After man was created, God said His creation was not just good, but “very good” (Genesis 1:31).

➡️ It points to man’s unique purpose and responsibility — to reflect God’s nature, steward the earth, and live in relationship with Him.
